As the new semester commences..it’s time to start my engine again.
Today I finished my first surveying practical in my life. To be honest, I was quite well-prepared and I felt quite confident to conduct the class. Unfortunately, I got stomachache this whole morning. Obviously, I was a bit ..nervous.
When I entered the classroom along with levelling staff, steel tape and plastic tape, I realized that all these surveying instruments and Onion are not friends at all and we never match each other. I am sure many students felt surprised to see me – a GIS freak, carrying all these surveying stuff around.
Anyway, I was glad to see some of the freshmen in the class. The first session was done by another instructor. After his introduction to all surveying instruments, he asked me to take the students to podium to continue the practical session. The practical today was quite simple: establish a baseline of 20m and use different tapes to measure the distance. Students seem too exciting about their first surveying practical class, they spread among three wings of podium! How come!? I spent nearly 1 hour there. It was so hot and I keep sweating! I reckon that GIS tutorial class is much comfortable and easy to handle. But as importantly these are valuable experience for Onion to learn and build up herself.
I know I am not a suitable person to teach surveying. But at this moment, I just hope my students would one day realize that Onion has tried her best to teach what she knows. And I hope time would transform Onion to be a more all-rounded “vegetable”
By the way, happy birthday to my dearest woman – Ela. Buzi Buzi * 100000
