Today is my last day to work in Vienna. I went back office before 8:30a.m this morning. Obviously, I was the first one. When I looked at my place, I felt quite sad.
I had a meeting with Georg at 9:30a.m. It’s the forth meeting so far. He asked me to write a final version of proposal yesterday. I finished this “wrap-up” report just before the meeting. Everything was fine. Georg wanted me to make 2 minor amendments on my proposal. I felt a bit happy about this, because we finally set the topic and work plan for my study. But in general, I felt sad about my leaving. Georg said good bye to me and he said that he is looking forward to my next visit in Vienna.
I finished everything before lunch. Nearly all colleagues went out for lunch today. They usually don’t have lunch. So it’s something special today. Of course, I felt happy about this.
After lunch, I wrote a minute for all four meetings. I realized that we have discussed quite a lot of things during my short stay in Vienna.
Nearly four, I decided to leave office and go to city center to do some last-minute shopping. So I said Good Bye to each of them. I think I really felt bad when I said Good Bye to Huang. He is the only one student who come from China. In fact, there are not so many Chinese studying in Vienna. So I am quite sure his life in Vienna is not that easy. We nearly met everyday. We had lunch together and took underground together after work. I thanked him for being around with me here. Hopefully we will meet somehow in Shengzhen or Hong Kong to enjoy the “real” delicious food.
One of my colleague wanted to have a drink with me after work, so we met at six at Stephensplatz. I think she was in a bad mood and wanted to find somebody to share. We talked everything – office, research and personal stuff as well. We finished nearly 10. I asked her if she has something to do tonight. She said no because she told herself that today is Mandy’s last evening in Vienna. She spared the whole night for me. I was touched and I really had a good time with her. Tonight, it’s my first time to see Vienna at nighttime. It’s very impressive.
I think I would feel better when I see Matuk’s family tomorrow.
Lastly, happy birthday to M !!!
